Karim Benzema scored the only goal in France's win over Brazil on Wednesday, but he had to pay for the honor by taking a Hernanes boot to the shoulder in the 40th minute. Hernanes was shown a straight red for his attempt to make Benzema feel the pain Nigel De Jong unleashed on Xabi Alonso in the World Cup final last summer. Unlike De Jong's flying boot of doom, however, Hernanes kept one foot on the ground and exhibited his flexibility with a Rockette-like kick to Benzema's upper body.
Hernanes' effort is also getting comparisons to UFC fighter Anderson Silva's kick to Vitor Belfort's face last weekend, though. Have a look and see if you can spot any similarities...
For the record, De Jong says he could have done to Xabi what Anderson Silva did to Belfort if he didn't have those boots getting in the way of his bare killin' feet.
