During his Friday press conference, Jose Mourinho issued a message to Real Madrid fans who have soured on him during the club's inability to keep pace with Barcelona this season. He said he would walk out onto the pitch exactly 40 minutes before kickoff of the Madrid derby and "those who want to whistle me they can do it."
On Saturday, exactly 40 minutes before third-place Real would play second-place Atletico, Mourinho came out of the tunnel, passed the swarm of photographers, and took a few steps onto the pitch. According to AS, he stood there impassively for about 90 seconds as the few thousand people in the stands at the time gave them their verdict. And, as it has been during recent matches, it was far from unanimous.
