Ronaldo to star in weight-loss reality TV show

During his playing days, Ronaldo struggled with weight even more than he struggled to shake off transexual prostitue scandals, but since retiring from the beautiful game last year, the legendary striker has ballooned in size.

In an attempt to curb his waistline ? and because reality TV is the only way famous people can overcome personal issues ? the three-time World Player of the Year is participating in a weight-loss reality TV show.

The Brazilian, who admits to having "a bad relationship with the scales," has already started filming the show, which will air in Brazil on the "Medid Certa" segment of the hugely popular "Fantstico" show from Sunday Sept. 22. Eurosport translates quotes the big guy gave to iG Gente:

"I'm enjoying participating in the program, because it is an incentive for me to lose weight.

"Maybe if I didn't have the pressure of everybody watching me trying to lose weight then I wouldn't be able to do it.

"All I can say is that I will work hard, be persistent and not give up until I reach my recommended weight."

Ronny's main target over the next three months is to be fit enough to participate in a charity match with former teammate Zinedine Zidane in December.

In the first of 12 episodes, the two-time World Cup winner goes through a comprehensiveevaluationof blood tests, measurements and electrocardiography procedures in order to give empirical data to support the hypothesis that he should eat less burgers and do some more exercise.
