Both Cruzeiro and Atletico-MG had a player sent off in the 58th minute of their Brasileiro match on Sunday. Half an hour later, with the score at 1-1, Atletico-MG were reduced to nine men with the match's third sending off. And a minute after that, Ronaldinho made a run from the midway line and after beating the same defender twice (once at midfield and again in the box), he put the ball just inside the far post to give Atletico a 2-1 lead.
This probably should've been a winner, but Cruziero finally capitalized on their man advantage and scored an equalizer in added time. Still, the draw was enough to keep Atletico in first place just short of the halfway mark in the season.
He's been described as past it and lazy, his last club didn't pay him and he lost his Coke sponsorship for sitting behind a Pepsi, but Ronaldinho has helped Atletico-MG to first place by showing off his old flair from time to time (albeit against lesser, but improving, competition) like this. Atletico-MG are a club that finished 15th last season and only have one Serie A title to their credit (1971).
