Paul Scholes officially starts the season with signature bad tackle

The first weekend of Premier League matches for the 2012/13 season did not disappoint, but something was missing. So to make the start of the new season official, Paul Scholes put in one of his usual late, lunging tackles on Everton's Darron Gibson to earn a yellow card in the 13th minute of Manchester United's 1-0 loss.

Scholes helped former teammate Gibson up after the ugly challenge just to show that there were no hard feelings, just a shocking inability to learn how to tackle after nearly 20 years as one of the Premier League's best players.

According to Opta, that yellow was the 91st of Scholes' Premier League career (only Kevin Davies and Lee Bowyer have more). Whenever the 37-year-old does retire (for real), Man United should bring him back for the first match of each season and instead of a first kick, have him delight the crowd with a ceremonial two-footed tackle on an unsuspecting opponent.
