After days of tedious speculation and negotiation, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has finally been unveiled as a Paris Saint-Germain player. The oil-rich side have reportedly handed AC Milan ?20m for the privilege of being graced with Ibra's daily presence, while the Swede is set to personally take home ?15m a year after tax for the next three seasons.
At his unveiling at the Parc des Princes, Zlatan thanked his new employers and expressed his intention to help deliver Les Parisiens their first Ligue 1 title since 1994. He also conceded that he doesn't know a lot about French football, but that's OK because his own reputation for excellence precedes him. The Guardian adds another entry to the Zlatan Brilliant Quote Database:
"It's true I don't know that much about Ligue 1, but Ligue 1 knows who I am."
In any other walk of life, turning up on your first day at work and admitting you know nothing about your new company's competition would be unwise, but this combo of nonchalant confession and unrelenting narcissism is everything you'd expect from a man who admits his mistakes by reinforcing his own awesomeness.
Ibrahimovic also sent a warning out to the journalists who have hounded him during this transfer saga. From Goal.com:
"This is another step in my career, another dream that has come true. This has been a massive thing in the media, people chasing me in my home. This is not normal, I will chase them back."
Good luck with the chasing Zlatan - just try not to hit them with your car.
