Near the end of Juventus' 4-0 win over a 10-man Roma side, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Erik Lamela got into a bit of a tiff. As the two jawed at each other, Lichtsteiner attempted to shut Lamela down by simply showing him one finger for each goal Juve scored (pictured below). Unable to form a witty, finger-based comeback, Lamela decided to spit at Lichtsteiner as he jogged by.
Well, Lamela's loogie was caught on camera and on Monday he was hit with a three-match ban for it. In a statement on its official website, Roma says that they reviewed the video and will not appeal. It was also added that, "Erik Lamela wishes to apologize to the fans, his teammates, the coach and his opponent for this regrettable incident."
Meanwhile, Lichtsteiner's originalproclamationstill stands...
