Fans trying to get Maradona on Argentina’s 10 peso note

Argentine legend and wearer of two watches Diego Maradona already has a religion devoted to him that reportedly has 150,000 members, so why not put his mug on the country's money? That's the goal of a growing Facebook movement. Even though, you know, it probably won't happen.

From Goal.com:

More than 15,000 people have joined a Facebook group entitled 'let the Diego be Diego' - Diego has already entered local slang as another word for 10 pesos, worth roughly ?2. They are asking for the current occupant Manuel Belgrano to be shifted to the $2 note, leaving 'El Diego' to assume the 10 with which he is inextricably linked in his home nation.

Yeah, just demote Belgrano to the 2 peso note. I mean, he was just one of the leaders in the country's fight for independence and created Argentina's flag. It's not like he won a World Cup or anything. I don't see any religions devoted to him.

Anyway, this could be really great for Maradona. I'm pretty sure he's been trying to pay off his massive Italian tax bill with money that has his face on it for years now.
