Manchester City fan vows to get Manchester United tattoo for charity

(justgiving.com)

Getting a tattoo is a lifelong commitment, and one that Manchester City fans take very seriously. This man, for example, can forever rejoice in the Champions League trophy the Citizens didn't win in 2011. This chap will proudly display his affection for Robinho, Kaka and Shaun Goater on his chest (only two of those men actually played for City, and only one played well). And if this is real, then God help us all.

Lifelong City supporter Chris Worthington is willing to join the vast pantheon of Sky Blues fans with regrettable ink by getting a Manchester Utd tattoo on his forearm. But unlike his predecessors, he's doing it for a very good cause.

Worthington's seven-year-old daughter Poppy was diagnosed with a brain tumour in July 2010, but was saved after support from the children's charity When You Wish Upon A Star. To show his appreciation, the 45-year-old dad has vowed to get a tatt dedicated to City's less noisy neighbours if he can raise 1,500 for the charity. He spoke to the Manchester Evening News:

?I?m not in shape to run a marathon and I couldn?t think of anything more personally painful than a United tattoo on me for the rest of my life.?

?I have no other tattoos, so this is going to be quite a thing.

?I didn?t want it to be hidden away, so I?m committed to it being on my forearm so it is obvious.

?Some of my City-supporting friends have refused to pay, unless I reach my target, so it looks like I?ll be appealing to those devious United fans to help me.?

Worthington is already more than half way to his target, and you can help get him through the doors at the tattoo parlour by donating here.
