It's been three years since Raul left Real Madrid as the club's all-time leader in appearances and goals scored. Since then he's played two seasons for Schalke (who retired his No. 7 when he left) and joined Qatari club Al Sadd, where he's still playing at 36 years old. To honor Raul, Real Madrid invited Al Sadd to play in the annual Trofeo Bernabeu match with the striker playing a half for each side.
The match began with Raul back in a Real Madrid kit. Iker Casillas gave him the captain's armband and Cristiano Ronaldo switched his number for the day so Raul could have his No. 7 shirt back (the Real Madrid kits featured pictures of fans within the numbers). And just to make the evening as perfect as it possibly could be, Raul ended up scoring the first goal of the match in the 22nd minute with a skillful strike. He then celebrated with a infectious smiles that made everyone feel all warm and fuzzy (except Carlo Ancelotti, apparently).
At halftime, Raul took off his shirt and presented it to Ronaldo before changing into his Al Sadd kit and playing out the rest of the match for the side that went on to lose 5-0. And in the 90th minute, to bring an unintentionally poetic end to the night, he was ruled offside.
