Mario Gtze juggles chewing gum during Champions League training session

Before Borussia Dortmund steamrollered Ajax 4-1 on Wednesday night to ensure a place in the final 16 of the Champions League, Mario Gtze pulled off some showboating of the highest order during a training session at the unnecessarily capitalized Amsterdam ArenA.

The midfielder skilfully juggled his chewing gum and - unconcerned by its contact with his boots that have been on the dirty ground ? flicked it back into his own mouth.

Gtze isn't the first footballer to combine juggling and mastication, as bothMesut zil and Rafael van der Vaart have been spotted playing with their Wrigley's during warm-ups.

Jose Mourinho welcomes Rafa Benitez back to life in his shadow

Rafa, what are you doing?

I mean this as serious question, Rafa. What are you doing? You are like a boy who goes to school, gets sick from eating glue that is clearly labeled "toxic -- do not eat," takes two years to recover, writes blog, then comes back to school and immediately eats another kind of glue that also has warning label on it. This behavior is not funny. Except, yes, OK, it is very funny. Hahahahahaha. That is me laughing at you.

Why do you keep jumping into my wake and trying not to drown, Rafa? At Inter, you had a team that belonged to me and lifted the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup because I made it possible. Then you urinated into the wind by attempting to give the owner an ultimatum and got sacked after six months. Who does this? Are you actually eating glue like the Rafa boy in my analogy? Maybe you should check your house for gas leak or some kind of poison spiders.

Now, after two years of watching me win more trophies and spending your time farting out blog posts, you decide that the perfect job for you is to once again join the European champions and a team and supporters that belong to me. A team you once hated. Except this time you are less ambitious and only take embarrassing six-month contract. Hahahahahaha. Again, this is me laughing at you.

Should I be worried about this trend, Rafa? Do you not know that there are many other clubs in the world besides the ones I have made mine? Are you going to take Porto job next? Will you come back to Real Madrid once I leave and sniff my chair? Do you have pictures of me all over the walls of your blog cavern? Are you going to make a body suit out of my skin? You shouldn't even try to do that, Rafa. Because it will not fit and the fur doughnut around your mouth will only get stuck in the zipper.

But I wish you good luck in your latest futile endeavor, Rafa. You will need it. And rest assured, I will be laughing at you the whole way. Enjoy my shade. Hahahahahaha.

Mockingly yours,

Jose

P.S. If you ask Petr Cech or Frank Lampard to throw away their pictures of me like you did at Inter, they will beat you with John Terry.

Euro 2012: Germany and Portugal Move On, Heading to Group C

Sunday had perhaps the most underwhelming product of the tournament thus far from a neutral perspective, which is maybe better put as a neutral who despises most of the Portuguese squad and wanted nothing less than their total annihilation. Robbie Keane seals L.A. Galaxy and Houston Dynamo rematch in MLS Cup final

Robbie Keane, wearing the captain's armband in Landon Donovan's absence, converted a ballsy penalty and celebrated with statuesque defiance to keep the L.A. Galaxy out of Seattle's reach and get his side to a second consecutive MLS Cup final against Houston. But he might still retain "unidentified fan" status as referee Mark Geiger becomes the most hated man in Seattle.

L.A. went into the second leg with a comfy 3-0 lead, but Seattle's Eddie Johnson was on a mission to destroy that advantage from the start. It appeared he got an early start towards reaching that goal just minutes into the second leg, but he was ruled offside even though replays showed that wasn't the case. Johnson kept his focus though and did get a goal in the 12th minute to make it 3-1 on aggregate.

Seattle would score again in the 57th minute with a great header from Zach Scott, making L.A. nervous and giving the home side a legitimate shot at an improbable comeback. But in the 67th minute, Geiger made up for ignoring L.A.'s handball shout just before halftime and awarded one caused by Keane, who got Seattle keeper Michael Gspurning to dive away from his stuttering penalty for his fifth goal of the playoffs. With the defending champions' lead back at a padded 4-2, they held on to win and prompted a shower of boos to mix with the rain as they quickly accepted the Western Conference trophy.

Meanwhile, Seattle's Osvaldo Alonso and Eddie Johnson went for Geiger after the final whistle, prompting the ref to show Alonso his second yellow card and a red to round out the local sentiment on the night.

So for the second straight year, it will be the AEG-owned L.A. Galaxy against AEG-owned Houston Dynamo playing an MLS Cup final in Carson, California. And if that match goes the way the rest of the playoffs have, they might as well rename it the Robbie Keane Cup right now. Maybe then he'll get the recognition he deserves.

Pepe unleashes another new kung fu move in Real Madrid?s loss to Real Betis

Two of the many things that Pepe does not take lightly are watching Sergio Ramos get knocked to the ground and Real Madrid losing. So when these two events happened at the same time during Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Real Betis, Pepe broke out a new danger move in which he kicked his legs high in the air and knocked his opponent over from behind.

Though it didn't prove asdevastatingas his finger stomp or his back kicks, it still earned him a yellow card and released a bit of his frustration like a chimney releases a puff of smoke.

DT?s horrible holiday gift guide: The Aston Villa bread press

Throughout the holiday season, we will be trawling official club shops for the items that will make the very best gift ideas for the very worst people on your list. This week: The Aston Villa bread press.

This might be the most useless item ever sold, not just by a football club, but by anyone anywhere. This is the Aston Villa bread press. Your first thought upon seeing it was probably, "Why?" Well, the club shop doesn't offer much help there as the item's description is simply "Aston Villa Bread Press."

But who wants to eat bread with letters smashed into it? Has there ever been an Aston Villa fan who thought, "My sandwiches always taste like turd because they don't have AVFC bludgeoned into them."? Does everyone know that you will never get back the time spent using the Aston Villa bread press?

The bread press is available in one size only and can be ordered in quantities up to 10. It is priced at 4.79, which seems a bit expensive for a bit of plastic.

Previously:The Anfield Stadium shirt,Fulham's chairman gnome/USB stick/creepy postcard, Borussia Dortmund grill cleaner

Marseille?s Mathieu Valbuena gets the street urchins away from his Lamborghini

Being a world-class professional footballer can be difficult. Not only do you have to play a sport in order to make a lot of money, but you also have to deal with the fans who care about you more than most of their family members and are desperate to express this whenever possible.

So when Marseille midfielder Mathieu Valbuena came to a stop in his Lamborghini and those pestering fans started putting their grubby paws all over his supercar, he rolled down the window to raise his hand and warn them off.

Meanwhile, in London, Santi Cazorla was a bit more tolerant when his Porsche was surrounded by giddy Arsenal fans after the 5-2 win against Spurs (video below). Though it was a different approach from Valbuena's, it's impressive that neither one of the footballers followed through on the urge to run those people over.

Donovan: Mexico is a 'well-oiled machine'

MEXICO CITY -- Landon Donovan is a veteran of the soccer clashes with Mexico, one of the chief figures behind the United States' dominance in the rivalry from 2000 through early 2009 -- and one of the most hated U.S. players, at least on this side of the border. So he possesses a keen sense of what's what with the region's twin powers, and his take on El Tri's resurgence the past few years, behind a golden generation of young talent, is simple: Mexico is something else, indeed.

DTotD: Elano is sorry he kicked the referee after bitter Gremio loss

Former Man City midfielder Elano has apologized on Twitter for kicking the referee in the midst of a scuffle that followed his Gremio side's contentious elimination from the Copa Sudamericana last Thursday. Gremio went into the second leg against Millionarios with a 1-0 lead, but ended up losing 3-2 on aggregate after a controversial penalty was awarded to the Colombian club in stoppage time.

After the final whistle, members of eliminated Gremio crowded around the officials and Elano kicked the ref. On Twitter, he later apologized for his outburst, saying "Very sad, sorry everyone. I was wrong!"

So if you lost track of the 31-year-old former Brazil international, that's what he's up to these days: kicking referees.

This has been the Dirty Tackle of the Day: a chronicling of unfortunate events.

David Beckham says MLS Cup will be his last match with L.A. Galaxy

A day after the defending champion L.A. Galaxy reached their second straight MLS Cup final, David Beckham announced that the match will be his last competitive appearance for the club despite having another year left on his contract.

Beckham signed a two-year contract extension in January after his initial five-year deal expired at the end of last year when L.A. won their first MLS Cup since he arrived. In 2012, Beckham has had his most productive season in MLS, scoring seven (often magnificent) goals and setting up five others in 28 matches. But in the last week, rumors of the 37-year-old midfielder making a move to Australia's A-League spread and were quickly denied by his spokesperson.

Now that he's moving on from the Galaxy, the A-League switch could still be a possibility, but he could also go to another MLS club (New York?) or just about anywhere else in the world that wants to sell David Beckham shirts.Of course, this announcement comes shortly afterSnoop Lion declared his interest in buying into Celtic and bringing Beckham to the Scottish champions. Coincidence? Definitely. Even if he does leave the U.S., whether it be for Snoop's fantasy land or a situation that's actually based in reality, he's not completely turning his back on MLS.

From the Galaxy's official website:

"I've had an incredibly special time playing for the LA Galaxy, however, I wanted to experience one last challenge before the end of my playing career," Beckham said. "I don't see this as the end of my relationship with the league as my ambition is to be part of the ownership structure in the future."

[Also: Clint Dempsey named U.S. Soccer's 2012 Male Athlete of the Year]

Owning a piece of an MLS club has always been a part of the post-retirement plan for Beckham ever since he first joined the league, but it sounds like that's more of an "I won't forget you, MLS" type of comment than something that will happen in the immediate future. But retirement doesn't sound like it's on Beckham's mind. Just a couple of months ago, he said: "I love the game so I want to continue playing it. I still obviously want to play at a high level. And if I feel that I can't play at that level then I'll try to stop."

Though his contributions on the pitch are often overlooked (114 total appearances, 15 goals, 48 assists and three MLS Cup berths over six season) by those easily distracted by his underwear modeling and cheerleader ogling, his presence in Los Angeles will be difficult to replace. The locals will have a chance to give him a proper send-off on Dec. 1 though, asthe Galaxy will once again play Houston for the MLS Cup in front of their home fans at the Home Depot Center.

Geoff Shreeves makes sure Rafa Benitez knows that Chelsea fans booed him

With just a few days to prepare, Rafa Benitez led Chelsea to a dismal 0-0 draw against Man City in his first match with the club. Chelsea fans made their feelings for the new manager known from the start, booing him and singing their praise for the ousted Roberto Di Matteo while Stamford Bridge was spotted with "Rafa Out!" banners.

After the match, professional killjoy Geoff Shreeves interviewed Benitez and made absolutely sure that Rafa knew that no one in the building liked him. Reminiscent of his insistence on drilling Branislav Ivanovic with the fact that he would not play in last season's Champions League final due to yellow card accumulation, Shreeves asked Benitez about the "absolutely awful" reception he got. When Benitez said he was too focused on the match to notice, Shreeves reiterated just how horrific it was. To his credit, Benitez tried to force a smile and remain positive, but Shreeves pressed on, saying all he could to try and ensure that the Spaniard would drink drain cleaner immediately after the interview finished.

Finally, once he essentially told Rafa three times that Chelsea fans would rather watch Alex Ferguson make love to their mothers than have him as their club's manager, Shreeves ends by asking, "Can you say you enjoyed today?" And that's when Benitez should have made him eat his own microphone.

Carles Puyol doesn?t need your blankets

It gets pretty cold in Moscow this time of year, so the players on Barca's bench pulled out the grandma blankets for Tuesday's Champions League match against Spartak. Carles Puyol did not require this form of body-warming technology, though. Because he is capable of keeping himself warm only through sheer focus and the lit flares he keeps in his boots.

Anyway, he must have forgotten to pack the shorts he wore to the Champions League draw a couple years ago.

Andrei Arshavin answers Twitter questions, admits fear of horses on television

It's been far too long since Andrei Arshavin graced us with a Q&A with the crazies on his official website. Luckily, we do have this video from a couple months ago that somehow eluded us until now in which Andrei answers questions from Twitter in typical Andrei fashion.

First, Arshavin says that the worst thing he did as a kid was, "I said to my mommy that I did not love her." This was quite funny to Andrei and the others in the room. Next, he's asked how he feels when standing next to Per Mertesacker. "No problem because anyway everyone is taller than me," he says. "Maybe except Cazorla now. Again, he smirks.

Later, he is asked if he owns a horse -- the most pressing question for any footballer. To this he admits that he is "scared of any horses, even when they are on tele." Andre then reveals that he doesn't care much for superheroes because why are they so great? But for the sake of being polite and giving an answer, he says Superman just for the hell of it.

Anyway, we need a sequel to this.

Thanks to Viren for the tip!

Messi is better than the CR7. He has won more head to head battles. He has more trophies in the closet. He has more winners medals in his trophy room. A violent day in the life of Zlatan Ibrahimovic (according to a French TV show)

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic serving a two-match ban for kicking St. Etienne's goalkeeper in the chest, French TV show Le Petit Journal decided to film a day in the life of PSG's leading scorer. Though the video is clearly intended to be a joke, it depicts exactly what Zlatan does on a normal day, from karate chopping teammates on the training ground to autographing people's foreheads and having the only dinner that can fuel his superior talent and self-regard.

The video is a parody of Nike's excellent "Take it to the Next Level" ad from a few years ago, but being an all-Zlatan version it is automatically much better than the original.

Goalkeeper blasts clearance attempt off opposing striker?s face for easy yet painful goal

The mark of a good striker includes having a nose for goal and being able to score even without trying and by that standard, the University of Oregon's Achijah Berry is the next Chicharito. In a match against Oregon State last week, the last of the season, OSU goalkeeper Sammy Jo Prudhomme blasted a clearance off the side of Berry's face from point-blank range, causing the ball to bounce back into her own net.

Though it looked like Berry was (understandably) turning away from the ball when it hit her, she took it in stride and was all smiles when her teammates ran over to celebrate/see if her face was OK.

Oregon went on to win 2-0.

DTotD: Rafa Marquez played against DC United ?like he was trying to get thrown out of the game?

With Rafa Marquez playing his usual role of blatant saboteur, the New York Red Bulls were eliminated from the MLS playoffs by DC United. Though Thierry Henry came up small in his own ways to help contribute to the disappointing performance, Marquez managed to squander a man advantage for his side just six minutes after DC keeper Bill Hamid was sent off.

Already on a yellow (that could've easily been a straight red) for elbowing Chris Pontius while going up for a header in the 61st minute, Marquez then took Pontius out with a late, lunging tackle in the 75th minute that earned him a second booking and a walk down the tunnel that he didn't seem too upset about. DC later scored in the 88th minute to advance to the next round.

After the match, Marquez's designated abuse sponge for the night had this to say about the former Mexico captain (via the Sporting News):

"It was like he was trying to get thrown out of the game ... like he didn't want to be there."

And if New York have any luck, he won't be there much longer at all.

This has been the Dirty Tackle of the Day: a chronicling of unfortunate events.

Sampdoria ultras protest losing streak by sitting in front of team bus

Relegated from Serie A after the 2010/11 season and making a quick return this year, Sampdoria have found the top flight to be just as painful as they left it. Seven straight losses and (and nine without a win) have the club just out of the relegation zone once again and the ultras are getting restless.

Sunday's 2-0 loss in Palermo had manager Ciro Ferrara (who got hit in the face with the ball, knocking his glasses off his face during the match) proclaiming that he will not quit, but that was before a group of ultras met the team at the airport.

From Football Italia:

Around 50 ultras were at the airport to 'greet' the squad, so they were rushed on to a bus for safety reasons.

However, the fans then blocked off the road to stop the bus from moving, performing a 'sit in' and demanding negotiations with the players or technical staff.

Nobody wanted to speak with the ultras, so after a few minutes police intervened to clear the road.

By not talking to the ultras, it seems they learned from Genoa's mistakes last season. And to the fans' credit, it sounds like they made their point peacefully and the whole thing ended without too much trouble. Still, we're only 12 matches into the season, so there's plenty of time for this situation to get much, much worse.
