After scoring exactly zero goals in 12 appearances for Juventus this season, the club decided to loan the 30-year-old striker out to Parma until June. This is a move welcomed by many Juve supporters, who have blamed him for at least some of the club's problems as it sits seventh in the table. And now, just to make things that much worse for himself, Amauri is pretty much challenging Juve to succeed in his absence.
From Football Italia:
The forward was lambasted by supporters and media throughout a poor campaign and, after fans chanted urging him to leave, completed a loan move to Parma.
“The fans have been protesting against me ever since I first arrived, so I’m used to that,” commented the Brazilian who has played for Italy.
“Now we’ll see if it was all my fault. I want to focus on myself now and not talk about Juve again until June."
That's probably not the thing to say, Amauri. Do you know what's better than a striker who can't score? Anything. Seriously. Starting a can of paint is just as worthwhile as a human striker who can't score. So even if your replacement -- former Cagliari striker Alessandro Matri, who has 11 goals this season -- accidentally scores one time while having a seizure, he's going to prove that maybe you were part of the problem.
Also, professional athletes who say things like, "I want to focus on myself now" usually have a hard time finding sympathy. Crazy, I know. But you'd probably be better off talking about yourself in the third person.
