Adrian Mutu wants to adopt the Chinese sewer baby because he was ?sent to him by God?

The story of 'Baby 59' ? the infant who was dramatically rescued from a Chinese sewer pipe ? has evoked sympathy, anger and shock all around the world.

The news has not escaped Romanian striker Adrian Mutu, who has stated his belief that God wants him to adopt the 5lbs newborn. Which sounds perfectly rational.

The Guardian translates his comments to a Romanian TV channel:

"I couldn't figure out how to carry on living, how to eat my breakfast when I saw this story on TV. He's a special child. When I saw the baby I said 'I must adopt him, he has been sent to me by God.'

"Just look at this poor little fellow. He made such a strong impression on me. I told my wife we have to help him, we have to do everything we can.

"I never thought I would adopt a baby, I had no plan concerning that, but I just know: I have to help this one."

The father-of-three, who is now playing in Ligue 1 with Ajaccio, appears to have highly virtuous intentions, but The Guardian highlight the fact that Romania is not currently one of the 17 approved countries whose citizens can adopt from China.

Also, Mutu may also have slightly more pressing concerns to deal with than adopting a famous baby, seeing as he still owes Chelsea over ?17m in damages after testing positive for cocaine.

Wenger talks about Fabregas and Rooney, but Arsenal can’t match their wages - originally posted on Soccerlens.com

When speaking to AlJazeera, Arsene Wenger was asked about Cesc Fabregas and Wayne Rooney. While any manager would show interest in ‘unsettled’ world-class players (unless you’re Bayern), there’s little to suggest that Arsenal can attract those players and will be …

Must-Read of the Day: Hacking the NFL

Spencer Hall of SB Nation has decided to reinvent the gridiron game to make it more interesting. Part of the NFL’s wretched conservatism comes from the luxury of having four downs, the first two of which are usually spent throwing short routes or just pounding meaninglessly into the line because “you have to establish the [...]

An Argentinos Juniors fan threw dentures on the pitch during a match

A disgruntled fan of Argentine Primera Division side Argentinos Juniors decided to express their frustration with the club by throwing false teeth on pitch during their 3-1 loss to Belgrano on Monday. Currently at the very bottom of the league table, Argentinos Juniorssurroundedthe third goal in the 60th minute, prompting debris to rain down on the pitch from the stands. Among the paper and other junk on the pitch near Argentinos Juniors' bench sat the dentures. Like Santa Claus at a deviant sex party.

The home fans continued to yell out in anger as the camera searched the crowd for someone missing a set of teeth, but, like the person who smeared poo in Crystal Palace's dressing room last week, the denture thrower remains a mystery.
