Bunbury gets first U.S. goal, funniest goal call you'll hear today

Saturday night's friendly between the U.S. and Chile ended up being a predictably disjointed performance from a young U.S. side not used to playing together. But the night was salvaged when Teal Bunbury scored a 74th minute penalty kick that would end the match at 1-1 and produce a meme that will probably follow the 20-year-old throughout his career.

Of course, the final score didn't matter and the match was really all about getting a look at some of the U.S.'s more promising young talents. Telefutura's Spanish-speaking match commentator Pablo Ramirez stole the show, though, with his little celebratory ditty for the Canadian-born Sporting KC striker.

"I like that Boon-boo-ree -- I like that Boon-boo-ree! Teal Boonbooree!" Ramirez sang, sounding just as pleased with himself for coming up with that little tune as he was with the goal itself. Meanwhile, Bunbury and Juan Agudelo, who earned the penalty in the first place, did an out-of-sync rendition of The Dougie to complete the awesomely hilarious scene.

Understandably inspired by this, Jason Davis from Match Fit USA and Sporting KC conspired to produce a remix of Ramirez's call set to the Black Eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow." Rock your shoulders to its splendor right this way...

So there you go. Now you have a new ringtone.

What?s Christmas Without Cookies?

Merry Christmas, football fans! You might be enjoying plenty of cookies today, but I bet your cookies aren’t quite as awesome as this batch that the Cattry sisters — Navdeep, Pardeep, and Ravi — made of the U.S. men’s national soccer team in gingerbread form. You can see the full batch after the jump. They [...]

Transfer Window Madness: Get Your Random Moves On

It’s the midway point of the season and that means changes throughout the league. For one club, it’s a fight against relegation while for another it’s a fight towards European competition. Sometimes it’s even that there’s money to burn (cough Mlaga cough) or that there’s a perceived lack of squad depth (cough Bara cough). Then [...]

Monday Transfer Inaction, and Apparently There Was a Female Linesman

Wait, what did you say Andy Gray was?

So, apparently there was a female assistant referee running the lines for the Wolves match. Having noted that she got a potentially tricky call right when judging Meireles onside in the lead-up to Torres’ first goal–though she then got a somewhat easier call on Maxi wrong as Torres [...]

US International Oguchi Onyewu Finds Net In His Debut With Twente

Oguchi Onyewu‘s Twente career is off to a good start. In classic fashion, the burly defender scored off a corner kick in Twente’s friendly against Sportfreunde Lotte, which competes in Germany’s Regionalliga West. The game finished 2-2, with Onyewu going the full 90 minutes. The exhibition against Lotte was Twente’s final friendly during the short [...]
